At the behest of emotion

The ability to feel is a rare gift indeed

I can only note that the past is beautiful because one never realises an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don't have complete emotions about the present, only about the past." ― Virginia Woolf

"Memory warps time, as it does the sights and sounds and smells of reality; for what shapes it is emotion, which can twist what seems clear, just as the surface of a pond seems to bend the stick thrust into the water." ― Sherwood Smith, Crown Duel

A longing for strong emotions and sensations seethes in human being

"The life of the dead is set in the memory of the living." ― Marcus Tullius Cicero, Philippics

"O may I join the choir invisible
Of those immortal dead who live again
In minds made better by their presence; live
In pulses stirred to generosity,
In deeds of daring rectitude..."
― George Eliot, O May
